Falling Apart

Turning 30 means that I started to fall apart.

No seriously!

Today I went for my ankle check up and I have to do three weeks of physical therapy.  Quadruple sigh.  On the bright side... my doc thinks that three weeks will spruce this bad boy right up! :)

Yeah, that's right, I just posted a pic of my feet!  Can't you see how swollen my left one is.  Tear Tear.
This afternoon I have a cyst removal procedure/surgery scheduled.  Sigh.  It's in my back and my dermatologist recommended it be removed.  I'm starting to get nervous.

Note: I faint

[easily]

So now that I'm 30 going on 80, I'll be sure to also purchase some arthritis medicine!

The good news is is that at least I have this little man taking care of me...

And I'm sure K may help out a little bit too ;)

17 Days --> 2.5 Months... Blogger Fail

One of my bf's (rossy - see rossy I told you I'd mention you!) was gchatting with me the other day about my blog and begging me to start back.  [Begging might be a bit of a stretch... maybe a casual mention!?].  So here I am starting back.

I told her that a part of my problem was that I'm either all or nothing.  So I've decided that I'm just going to be in my gray (grey?!) area... I might blog every day in a week and none in the next... but at least it will allow me to blog!  So here I am!  Blogging again!  I'm looking forward to chronicling my life, catching up with friends, and letting my creative juices flow! :)  So I hope you're ready to join me on my ride again! :)

So here's an update on my life!

* Exciting Events *
+ Dottie's XXth Birthday Celebration!  My mom turn xx on 12-12-12 of last year.  In celebration of her birthday K, my parents, and I celebrated at the Commander's Palace Chef's Table.  It has been hailed as the "best table in the United States" and boy was it!  The Chef's Table is a four person table sitting smack dab in the middle of the Commander's Palace kitchen.  You have your own personal chef for the entire evening who prepares a 7-8 course meal just for your party (with a sommelier who does a wine tasting!).  You don't get your menu until the END of the meal because they make your meal homemade on the spot based on things that you enjoy!  It was FABULOUS!  Of course, I don't have any pics with us in it (#blog to get pictures from your family members), but I do have a few and of our final menu!

+ My 30th Birthday!  I turned a new decade on February 25th!  It was a GREAT birthday!  And I got a fabulous birthday gift from the K man!

NO!  Not the boot silly heads - my very first pair of Tory Burch's!  Love love!

+ Jane Anne Visits NOLA!  JA - one of my bf's from college - lives in Nashville and her and her mom flew into New Orleans to celebrate our 30th birthdays.  We had a smashing time and tried out some great new restaurants.  It was absolutely fabulous to have her here and now I miss her so much!

* Not Exciting News *
+ My Ankle/Foot Injury!  It's not that exciting, but I'm a klutz.  I was walking Jacques-Imo (yes, I understand he's an eight pound dog) and I stepped down onto the ground and right onto a sprinkler head.  And kaput went my foot.  It rolled and I heard a snap!  I have been in the boot for six weeks now and will go back again next week for another follow up.  It is getting better, but it's really cramped my style!  Gah, I'm such a ditz!

+ Job Hunting!  The clerkship with my Judge ends in August and I am in desperate search for a j-o-b!  I have had interviews and some good leads, but nothing has crossed the finish line quite yet.  It may sound far ahead, but in the legal world, it's common to get a job this far out, so I feel behind on the eight ball.  Keep me in your prayers, and keep your fingers crossed!

* Diet Progress *
+ 15 Pounds!  I have lost fifteen pounds since January 1st.  I am so excited!  I have stuck with the 17 day diet, but have had my fair share of cheat days.  My philosophy - I have to lose it while still enjoying life.  Unfortunately, I can't go on the biggest loser, so I have to be around all of the daily temptations.  I'm looking forward to losing the next fifteen!

* New Obsessions *
+ Goodreads.com!  I have started reading up a wazoo, and this website is helping me do it.  I am an official book addict.  It is so much fun to find new books and be reading more!

+ Flylady.net!  This lady has inspired me to get my house into order.  I've always been clean, but it's helped me really get ship shape!  Things are always spic and span at the apartment now.  Yippee!

+ The Following!  Although I am reading a ton, I have not given up on the fabulous t.v. out there.  If you are okay with a little gore and love a thriller, then this t.v. show is the one for you.  In my humble opinion I think it's the best show on t.v. right now.  Kevin Bacon does an amazing job, and every episode has a fabulous new twist and turn.  I am already sad for when it goes of the air for the summer.  Check it out!

So what's up with you!?!?!  Anything exciting!?!?!?!

17 Days... Check!

So I'm done with my first seventeen days - yippee!  I only cheated once (doing the "go me" dance!).  Now admittedly, I cheated a lot (loved my cocktails and delicious food), and this past week I have simply been getting back to the weight that I was going into my cheat day.  So here is the final update...

+ Total Weight Lost:
9 pounds

+ Differences:
- Sleep - I'm able to sleep so much more soundly and fall asleep so much easier.  And I need less of it.
- Energy - I just have a lot of pep in my step!
- Less Bloated - I feel a lot less bloated then I did before I started.
- Clothes - they are already starting to fit better!

+ Easy Part:
- Food - the food is delicious!  A lot of options and quick recipes with the foods too!
Just one of the delicious meals we've eaten over the past 17 days!
- Green Tea - I am loving having to drink three cups of green tea a day... when it's been cold I drink it hot, when it's been warm (yes, it is January, but it is also Louisiana!) I brew my three cups and put it in the freezer so I can have iced green tea!
- Quality Time - I am able to spend more quality time with J man, Kevin, AND myself.  It's been nice to focus on them.
- Money - I am actually spending less of it!  Even though I'm buying all lean proteins and fresh veggies, it's less than eating out fast food, restaurants, and buying vino and cocktails!

+ Hard Part:
- Cooking - I am starting to get really tired of cooking and cleaning for every meal.  I could always get a salad bar to go, and I have gotten a box of sushi grade fish from a sushi restaurant, but other than that I have been cooking everything because I'm too afraid to maybe have some sugar, flour, or carb.  It's getting tiring!
- No Vino - sigh, how I miss it so.  Cocktails - sigh, how I miss you so, too!
The terrible weather that we've had lately has been helpful at keeping me in though!
- Water - drinking 8 cups of water a day has proved difficult for me.  I just don't end up drinking it, so I guess it's not too "hard."

+ Next Step:
- Cycle 2!  It is called the Activate Cycle.  More on all of the details this weekend! :)

My little 17 day companion... too handsome for words!
